OUR ASSETS AND ACTIVITIES
The Trust owns the Scalebor Park Sports Pavilion and the Corn Mill Pond. We lease the Pudding Tree and Jubilee Gardens and the Scalebor Playing Field.
We are responsible for the maintenance of all of the above assets and in addition we look after all the Scalebor Park open space (not the woods). This includes regular upkeep of the playing fields, including annual drainage maintenance and the installation of the all-weather cricket pitch.
In the last year CCTV cameras and monitors were installed together with an AED machine at the Pavilion, as well as the exterior being repainted.
We undertook regular maintenance of the Fountain of Life area at the bottom of Station Road (refurbished by the Trust in 2016) including jet washing and upkeep of the flower beds.
In the last year we have provided funds to assist in the Bowling Club pavilion and Scout and Guide HQ construction, Walkers are Welcome (footpath gates), Library furniture (mainly children’s section) and continued to provide funding and assistance for the new Youthquake youth provision. This has been done with help from Bradford Youth Services and Burley Parish Council.
We are currently completing the refurbishment of the Roundhouse Garden area to provide an attractive seating area and patio. Funding help from Churches Together Burley Gardeners and Burley Parish Council. New play equipment and the long promised zip wire should be installed by February 2021 to provide increased facilities for children aged 6 to 13. A new herb garden and another flower bed at the back of the Village Green have been funded and coordinated by the Trust in the year with help from volunteers.
In addition we run the Annual Duck Race and, with the Scouts and Guides, Teas in the Park (Sunday 20 June 2021), the hanging baskets and flower tubs in the summer, annual Christmas Lights, Christmas Market and Craft Fair (this year on Saturday November 27th 2021).
