BWCT is a registered charity (1098871) and is a not-for-profit organization formed in 2003 to help provide facilities and services and to maintain assets for the benefit of all Burley residents and visitors. For more details of our activities please click on the ‘About Us’ button at the top of the website page.
The Trust is managed by a group of volunteer Trustees elected at the AGM in January. Currently there are 14 Trustees, all from the village.
Funding for the Trust is provided by membership fees, private and corporate donations and from partnerships including Burley Parish Council, Burley Gardeners, Co-op, Plastic Free Burley, Love Burley and Scone Roses WI. We have also undertaken jointly funded work with other village organizations such as Burley Scouts and Guides, Burley Trojans Junior Football Club, Burley Cricket Club (junior section), Burley Playground project, Burley Bowls Club, and Walkers are Welcome.
Membership is a very important element of our income (currently 927) and we would urge all Burley residents to join the Trust either as an Individual for an annual fee of £12, as a Family member for £18, or as a Life member for the one-off fee of £150. This can be done online by clicking on the join/renew button below.
Whilst the Library is closed for the corona virus restrictions please put any membership cheques or cash in the exterior Library post box, in an envelope marked Burley Community Trust.
We now have an automated membership system (mainly online) which is working well. For those members with an e mail address the Trust now sends out a regular newsletter with details of our recent and upcoming events and activities.
